Wi-Fi/wireless router Closed area network. No access to external networks Single point of failure Computer networks can be used for… -Sharing resources -Online gaming -Online communication such as chat rooms conferencing -For small business and schools to share study information -Government services such as library's may use computer networks to monitor books and such Cat5/6 network cables are used to connect devices to each other Cheap, easy, ext. used by college LAN. Local area network Star network is a single point with all surroundings linked individually to the single point. Tree network star alexa Networking around the house Wi-Fi/wireless router PAN. Personal area network, is all of the devices you use every day. Nodes are communication equipment (Such as a moden hub or bridge) or data termination equipment(Such as digital telephone handset, a printer or host computer). Mobile devices pc Mobile devices Wide area network. Multiple LAN networks connected. Often used with global businesses Protocol, doing something in a specific order No single point of failure Client server, a server that holds information for a client who is often using the server as external storage. Mesh network WAN Wide area network Expensive, complex, ext. used by military Bus network Routers directs and forwards the information to the required location Peer to peer network is when all users of the network have equal access and privileges Switches route data to the correct device without sending to all like a router does
