Nuclear Energy – A Place in Sustainable Management Practice? Controversy exists in the sustainability management world regarding the usefulness of nuclear energy.  In 2004 Dr. James Lovelock broke with many fellow environmentalists by pronouncing that "only nuclear power can now halt global warming". In his view, nuclear energy is the only realistic alternative to fossil fuels that has the capacity to both fulfill the large scale energy needs of humankind while also reducing greenhouse emissions. He is an open member of Environmentalists for Nuclear Energy.

In his view, nuclear energy is the only realistic alternative to fossil fuels. He believes it has the capacity to both fulfill the large scale energy needs of humankind while also reducing greenhouse emissions. He is an open member of the global organization, Environmentalists for Nuclear Energy. Environmentalists for Nuclear Energy

MIT Scientists Take Balanced Approach: “We did not analyze other options for reducing carbon emissions — renewable energy sources, carbon sequestration, and increased energy efficiency — and therefore reach no conclusions about priorities among these efforts and nuclear power. In our judgment, it would be a mistake to exclude any of these four options at this time, (including nuclear power).” Below is full text from the MIT analysis - Review of Energy Options: Is Nuclear Power a Viable Alternative?

Greenpeace Begs to Differ “Nuclear power is dirty, dangerous and expensive. Say no to new nukes.” Say your plant or business is checking into nuclear energy options—or switching to a nuclear-reliant supplier. What position do you hold as a manager, and on what basis? What do you know now to make your case? How do you influence those in your organization that do not agree with you without shutting down communications altogether?
