Presentation transcript:

An 84-year-old woman with steroid-related osteoporosis and a 4-week history of severe back pain. An 84-year-old woman with steroid-related osteoporosis and a 4-week history of severe back pain. Fat-suppressed T2-weighted sagittal MR image shows diffuse marrow edema within the T9 vertebra and mild height loss consistent with an acute osteoporotic vertebral compression fracture (large arrow). In addition, a subtle T10 inferior endplate fracture is associated with adjacent-level disk injury (double arrows). These latter findings were not described in the official radiology report. Yet, on fluoroscopic evaluation, the patient was markedly tender to palpation at the T9 and T10 levels. A.O. Ortiz, and R.
