Evaluation of the Association between Paternal Occupational Exposure and Children Cancers (Leukemia and Non-Hodgkin lymphoma) Atef Atefi

Introduction The incidence of childhood cancer has been increasing since the last two decades. Leukemia and lymphoma are common in children under 15 years old. Incidence of Acute Lymphoid Leukemia (ALL) has increased five fold from 1975 to 2002. The peak of incidence is in children between 2-6 years of age and a little more in males as compared to females. Its incidence is more in whites and the high socioeconomic class. ALL occurs in Down syndrome, Bloom syndrome, ataxia telangectasia and Fanconi’s anemia. Acute myeloid leukemia (AML) comprises 11% of all childhood leukemias. Lymphoma is the third common cancer in childhood and comprises 16% of childhood cancers.
