Advice from Law Society Practice Advisors Conflict of interest issues are a common complaint Confidentiality is very important – DO NOT TALK ABOUT YOUR FILES IN PUBLIC!! Get back to clients right away – the Law Society won’t care that you are really busy or didn’t need to be on campus that day

Common Ethical Issues Cannot (knowingly) allow a lie to be told in court/tribunal Inactivity on files/missed limitation dates Undue influence (wills and estates, immigration etc.) Documented authority to act Making “ASS”umptions ‘Without prejudice” statements Undertakings
