Education Strategy and School Organisation 3 Primary School Expansion Programme What have we done so far? 1.Opened additional temporary Reception classes 2.Cabinet agreed the School Place Planning Strategy 3.Completed a first phase of permanent school expansions 4.Cabinet agreed a second phase of permanent school expansions 5.Attracted significant Government funding to support expansions

Education Strategy and School Organisation 4 Primary School Expansion Programme Proposals for Schools Proposed to expand two schools in the South East Primary Planning Area Permanent increase by one form of entry (30 places): Priestmead Primary School in 2015 Kenmore Park Infant School in 2015 and Kenmore Park Junior School in September 2017

Education Strategy and School Organisation 5 Primary School Expansion Programme What would this mean for our school? More children would be able to get a place at our school but there would be an increased number of children More teachers and staff for these children Increased budget for the school Possible changes to some arrangements during the school day Site and accommodation changes

Education Strategy and School Organisation 6 Primary School Expansion Programme What might the accommodation changes be? Priestmead Primary School is in the Governments Priority School Building Programme The Education Funding Agency will rebuild / refurbish the school If expansion is agreed, the school will be rebuilt / refurbished as a larger school The design for the rebuilt / refurbished school is not known yet Interim arrangements would be put in place to accommodate additional children in the meantime

Education Strategy and School Organisation 7 Primary School Expansion Programme When would this happen? A bulge Reception class would be admitted in September 2014 Permanent expansion would be from September 2015 The Education Funding Agency will begin the feasibility stage in Spring 2014 Who would pay? The school will be rebuilt / refurbished as part of the Governments Priority School Building Programme by September Harrow Council would fund the interim works for the extra children.

Education Strategy and School Organisation 8 Primary School Expansion Programme What happens now? Statutory consultation to gather views from all interested parties ends on Friday 18 October 2013 Report will be presented to Cabinet in November 2013: With outcomes of the statutory consultation Recommendations on those schools to publish statutory notices for permanent expansion Final decision by Cabinet in March 2014 Implementation of permanent expansions from September 2014
