Microsoft Teams Development Platform

Microsoft Teams: Application platform Microsoft Teams provides a powerful and extensible platform Build apps with a rich set of capabilities to reach your users through chat, channels, notifications and personal workspace. Integrate with new or existing business processes and services Adaptive Cards Add rich interaction to your connector cards Message Extensions Allow users to query and share rich cards in conversations Tabs Surface rich content as well as SharePoint Framework* based solutions Build in intelligence and connect to data that drives productivity Microsoft Graph Connectors Post rich updates to channels Activity Feed Engage users via feed notifications Bots Help users get tasks done in conversations Microsoft Teams has announced a rich set of capabilities to build apps or integrate with new or existing business processes and services. [NOTE] You can pick couple of the examples to pitch your partners. Although it is crucial for partners to understand the full stacks of the capability, but SharePoint Framework and Graph API are the top opportunities. First, we’ve created a single Office 365 platform for deploying your apps into both SharePoint and Teams so if you’re a SharePoint partner, you can now take the web parts you’ve built and make them available in Teams. This provides a consistent developer and user experience and increases visibility and use of your existing solutions. Second, we’ve introduced a whole set of new Graph APIs for automating the end-to-end Teams lifecycle. You can now automate the provisioning of teams, the creation of channels and tabs, the deployment of apps, and much more. This was one of your top asks and now it is available. Graph API Teams scenarios: https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/Microsoft-Teams-Blog/New-Provide-a-great-Teams-experience-with-improved-manageability/ba-p/288059 Example scenarios Here are a few potential scenarios where you might provision groups of teams:   Airlines: provision new channels for new flight routes  Legal: create a new team or channel when a new case arises. Educational institutions: every semester, create a new batch of teams tied to class rosters, schedules, etc. Project management teams: every time you spin up new projects, automatically create & populate relevant teams and channels to get started more quickly and efficiently. Sales: Have a new lead? Perfect, automatically provision a launch a new team with the key virtual team you’ll need to land the deal. Event planning: for each new conference and event, coordinate better by leveraging templates to spin up new teams and channels for that event. This is how we planned Ignite! General: re-orgs, memberships for external databases, incident management and more. ****************************************************************************************************************************************************** Tabs allow you to surface rich content within Teams, so you can bring the tools and services your team cares about right into a channel or private chat. Add rich dashboards and data visualization, collaborate on documents and note taking, manage tasks across the group, and share designs. Bots help users get tasks done in conversations in Teams. Bots can do things like kick-off workflows and provide related status, give and receive kudos from team members, create lightweight surveys to gauge employee satisfaction, and answer natural language questions about sales and customer usage data. Connectors help bring useful information and rich content from external services into channels in Microsoft Teams. Get social media notifications, updates about pull and push requests, and news updates. With Actionable messages, you can add rich content to your connector cards. Message extensions allow users to query and share rich cards in conversations. Activity feed notifications engage users via feed notifications. To learn more about the Teams developer platform, visit the Office Dev Center at Developer.Microsoft.com/Microsoft-Teams. And with this rich set of capabilities, many the result of partner feedback, it has opened up significant opportunities for you as partners to create a very wide range of customized solutions for your customers. Additional Questions - BOT 1. Why is the process between the Bot Services Teams Chat Channel and deployment within Teams and Teams Store so difficult, especially for business analysts? NB The shift towards tools for building bot apps that are codeless means more and more non technical people can be involved yet bot deployment into Teams is still dependent upon technical people Use QnA maker to quickly create a BOT based on a FAQ document. https://www.qnamaker.ai/ . This approach is for non technical people to easily create BOT and deploy it into Teams

Additional Questions Will the customized backgrounds be available in mobile phones or only on desktop app? Only on desktop How do I handle Microsoft Teams in education? For example I want students at a school to only see other students, not employees. Use Scoped Directory Search. Microsoft Teams scoped directory search allows organizations to create virtual boundaries that control how users can find and communicate with other users in their organization.

Additional Questions How do you handle shared calendars within Teams and users that have guest access? Is there a Microsoft Teams TAP Program like there is for other Microsoft programs? How are we able to join it?
