The dashed trend lines represents the best fit power-based learning curves. The vertical line represents 31 cases, which was the median number of cases required to achieve five operative times below the median times of all residents during the last academic quarter. Coincidentally, that also corresponds to where the curve transitions from exponential improvement to linear improvement.
