RESEARCH ON THE GENDER DIFFERENCES IN THE FIELD OF SOCIOLINGUISTICS TATJANA SAVIC

INTRODUCTION -One of the most important topics in the field of sociolinguistics is how the connection works between structures, vocabulary, the way a specific language is used  and in what way both men and women use these languages.  -Leonard Bloomfield's conclusion on the topic of gender differences.

RESEARCH QUESTIONS -WHAT IS SOCIOLINGUISTICS AND WHY ARE THE DIFFERENCES OF GENDER IMPORTANT TO  ITS STUDY? -IN WHAT WAYS DO MEN AND WOMEN SPEAK DIFFERENTLY?

-FEATURES OF 'THE WOMEN'S LANGUAGE 1. PRECISE COLOR TERMS  2.THE CONSTANT CHANGE OF THE RISING AND FALLING INTONATION THE CONTINUAL USAGE OF ADJECTIVES AVOIDANCE OF STRONG SWEAR WORDS MORE DESCRIPTION MORE DISCUSSION AND EXAGGERATION WHILE HAVING A CONVERSATION

OVERVIEW ON TRADITIONAL SOCIAL FACTORS THE PROBLEM OF WOMEN INERACTING DIFFERENTLY FROM MEN IS A CENTER OF DISCUSSION. LANGUAGE WAS NOT ONLY USED TO REFLECT A SYSTEM BUT ALSO TO SHOW A MEN CONTROL OVER WOMEN.  LAKOFF'S OBSERVATIONS OF LANGUAGE AND DISCUSSION ON DIFFERENCES BETWEEN WOMEN AND MEN'S LANGUAGE

SWEARING AND VULGAR LANGUAGE -A TRADITIONAL BELIEF ABOUT THE DIFFERENCES BETWEEN MEN AND WOMEN IS THE USAGE OF SWEARING AND VULGAR LANGUAGE "LADYLIKE" BEHAVIOUR JESPERSON (1922) ON WOMEN'S PREFERENCE FOR MORE REFINED AND INDIRECT EXPRESSIONS WOMEN TEND TO USE MORE POLITE VERSIONS OF SWEARING TO SHOW THEIR ANGER

NO MATTER WHAT COMMUNICATION STYLE IS MEN AND WOMEN WILL SPEAK IN DIFFERENT WAYS: MEN'S APPROACH WOMEN'S APPROACH Men will take the approach of the instrumental communication style where they want to give an answer quickly and in that way establish their superiority. Women, on the other hand, will use expressive style of communication and be more sensitive to issues than men.
