Stimulus Deprivation Lid closure in cats or monkey, fine-detail cells (X cells) in the geniculate are larger than normal, and movement cells (Y cells) are smaller than normal (Sur M; 1982)
Stimulus Deprivation Projections from lateral geniculate nucleus to visual cortex are similarly affected. Cortical stripes from the affected eyes are narrower than normal (Hubel DH; 1975)
Anisometropic In primates given atropine, cells in visual cortex reduced contrast sensitivity; most prominent in striae cortex layer IV and IV (Movshon JA; 1987)
