The Red Convertible and the Police Created for CVCA Physics by Dick Heckathorn 29 September 2K+3

The police is stopped at a traffic light The police is stopped at a traffic light. The light turns green and they start up. Just as it does so, a red convertible passes it, going at a steady velocity. Their velocity-time curves are shown above.

a. How long does it take the police to be going as fast as the red convertible? 0.005 hrs

b. At that time, how much is the red convertible ahead of the police? 0.15 km

c. Which car is ahead, and by how much, at the end of 0.008 hour? Red Convertible – 0.08 km

d. At what time does the police car catch up with the red convertible? Until areas are? Equal <=> d. At what time does the police car catch up with the red convertible?

d. At what time does the police car catch up with the red convertible? 0.01 hrs

That’s all folks!

e. How far have they traveled from the traffic light by the time the police car catches up? 0.60 km
