Propaganda

Propaganda  1.information, ideas, or rumors deliberately  spread widely to help or harm a person, group, movement,institution, nation, etc. 2.the deliberate spreading of such information,  rumors, etc. 3.the particular doctrines or principles  propagated by an organization or movement.

Influencing the attitude of the community  Usually repeated and dispersed over a wide variety of media Propaganda often presents facts selectively Often associated with jingoism (overt national pride)

However, propaganda is also used for even mundane endeavours.

And other important causes. For example, this picture from the Civil War was used by Abolitionists to gain support against slavery.

And, of course there are parodies…
