Matching functions & graphs without calculators QUADRATICS Matching functions & graphs without calculators

Write down as many facts about the graph & its function as you can in 2 minutes.

FACTS:

y = x2 – 4x – 6 Write down as many facts about the function & its graph as you can in 2 minutes.

Using the graphs: Identify THE GRAPHS THAT HAVE THE SAME VERTEX. Identify the graphs with no roots & the graphs with ONE ROOT. IDENTIFY THE GRAPHS THAT HAVE THE SAME ROOTS. IDENTIFY THE GRAPHS THAT HAVE THE SAME Y-INTERCEPT.

y = x2 – 4x – 6 FACTS:

Using the function strips: 1). IDENTIFY THE FUNCTIONS WHOSE GRAPHS WOULD HAVE A Y-INTERCEPT OF 4. 2). IDENTIFY THE FUNCTIONS WHOSE GRAPHS WOULD OPEN UP. 3). IDENTIFY THE FUNCTIONS WHOSE VERTEX WOULD BE THE SAME AS THE Y-INTERCEPT.

Using graphs & functions: MATCH THE GRAPHS & FUNCTIONS. COMPLETE THE ANSWER SHEET & CREATION PROBLEM.

Using the graphs & function strips: 4). IDENTIFY THE FUNCTIONS THAT WILL HAVE THE ORIGIN AS ONE OF ITS ROOTS. 5). IDENTIFY THE FUNCTIONS WHOSE VERTEX HAS AN X-COORDINATE OF -1.

Using the graphs & functions: Compare GRAPH J and equation #7. -What is the value of the larger maximum? -What is the DISTANCE BETWEEN in the y-intercepts? Compare GRAPH B and equation #12. -What is the value of the larger minimum? -What is the DISTANCE BETWEEN the y-intercepts?
