Presentation transcript:

Four Generalizations of Power 1) Power is active or latent in individuals or groups. 2) Power may be used for good or evil. 3) Power provides freedom of choice. 4) Power may be sustained, transferred or uprooted. Discuss the four generalizations briefly with the people at your table.

I was angry with my friend: I told my wrath, my wrath did end. I was angry with my foe: I told it not, my wrath did grow. And I watered it in fears Night & morning with my tears; And I sunned it with smiles, And with soft deceitful wiles. And it grew both day and night, Till it bore an apple bright. And my foe beheld it shine, And he knew that it was mine, And into my garden stole, When the night had veiled the pole; In the morning glad I see My foe outstretchd beneath the tree.

In the writing journal section of your binder, write a response to the poem.  Describe what you think about it, what it reminds you of, and explain a time where you experienced a similar situation. Also relate at least one of the four generalizations of Power from yesterday to the poem. 1) Power is active or latent in individuals or groups. 2) Power may be used for good or evil. 3) Power provides freedom of choice. 4) Power may be sustained, transferred or uprooted.

Resentment is like drinking poison, and then hoping it will kill your enemies. Nelson Mandela

Can you think of a time when you would have preferred someone NOT tell you the truth? Write about that time.
