6-1 Parallelograms Objectives: To recognize and apply the properties of a parallelogram.

Vocabulary Quadrilaterals Parallelograms Diagonals

Vocabulary A quadrilateral is a four-sided polygon. A parallelogram is a quadrilateral with both pairs of opposite sides parallel. The diagonals of a polygon are the segments that connect any two nonconsecutive vertices.

Theorems Theorem 6-1 Theorem 6-2 Theorem 6-3 Theorem 6-4 Opposite sides of a parallelogram are congruent. Theorem 6-2 Opposite angles of a parallelogram are congruent. Theorem 6-3 Consecutive Angles in a parallelogram are supplementary. Theorem 6-4 The diagonals of a parallelogram bisect each other.
