When to use parenthesis Use parenthesis to enclose explanatory or additional information (When it is appropriate in a sentence) .

Rules of Parenthesis: Rule 1 Use parenthesis to enclose words that clarify or are used as an aside. Example: The gift card is worth five hundred dollars ($500)

Rules of Parenthesis: Rule 2 Do not use punctuation within parenthesis if that punctuation would belong to the sentence. Only use it if there is an entire sentence within them. Example: Please read the document ( I enclosed it as an attachment).

Rules of Parenthesis: Rule 3 If a short sentence is in parenthesis, it could stand by itself or be contained within another sentence. Example: The student (After taking five minutes to think) finally gave the answer to the question.

Rules of Parenthesis: Rule 4 Use full parenthesis to enclose numbers or letters used for listed items. Example: We need a physician who can (1) think quickly, (2) treat patients respectfully, and (3) handle complaints from the public.

Rules of Parenthesis: Rule 5 Do not use parentheses within parentheses.  Use brackets in place of the inner parentheses. Example:  Please refer to Julius Caesar (Act IV, scene i [page 72]).

Another example! Occasionally, parenthesis may be nested (usually one set(such as this) inside another set). This is not commonly used in formal writing (though sometimes other brackets [especially square brackets] will be used for one or more inner set of parentheses [in other words, secondary {or even thirdly} phrases can be found within the main parenthetical sentence]).

Now, its time for a review!!!!! This should be easy.

Review: Question 1 There will be a (reward) of $250 for whoever finds the lost cat.

Review: Question 2 To make a sandwich, you will need (1) bread, (2) condiments, and (3) cheese.

Review: Question 3 Despite all the bad road conditions trust me they were pretty bad, the bus was still able to make it to its stops.

Review: Question 4 Please open your textbooks (the blue one.) and read pages 468 to 470 to finish your assignment.

Congratulations You have been enlightened on the grammatical rules of parenthesis.
