Pictorial/Orthographic Drawing Review Pictorial/Orthographic

I. Pictorial Drawings – Shown as in a Photo – 3 Types - Axonometric A. Isometric – Most common – Faces projected 30° above horizontal B. Oblique Drawings – Front drawn as orthographic – top and side projected back at 15°-30°-45 – 2 Types (1) Cavalier Oblique – Front and receding at same scale (2) Cabinet Oblique – Receding axes at half scale

Perspective Drawings – Most realistic – Instead of lines being parallel receding lines meet at a vanishing point – 2 Types (1) Parallel – One point perspective (2) Angular Perspective (two point) – End different vanishing points at horizon

II. Orthographic Drawings – Nearly all II. Orthographic Drawings – Nearly all construction projects – Showing various views – Projected at right angles

III. Construction Drawings A. Plan View – Top view B. Floor Plans – Layout/walls, windows, doors, rooms, stairs, etc. C. Foundation Plans – Walls, slabs, piers, footings D. Framing Plans – Structural layout for floors/roofs E. Plumbing – Pipes, fixtures

G. Mechanical – Heating, ventilating, AC, HVAC H G. Mechanical – Heating, ventilating, AC, HVAC H. Elevations – Stage of building, doors, windows, chimneys, show front, sides, rear I. Sections – Detail cut through a wall or other feature J. Details – Larger scale than plans, elevations and sections

IV. Dimensioning A. Scale – Floor Plans ¼” = 1” or Quarter scale most common
