You can determine your ITE and Recall ratios from “Periodontal Thresholds” in your Personal Planner (an explanation of abbreviations is in the PR 256 syllabus) All of this and more is on Canvas under PR256

Orientation class of 2020 Minimal clinical experiences expected by end of Quarter 8: 20 total of root planning quadrants + prophy + SPT 1 periodontal re-evaluation

Orientation 2020 Periodontal Reflective Portfolios: Assigned periodontal faculty mentor Quarterly calibration of mentors Submit reflection and feedback sheet on Canvas Select a focused topic related to a periodontal clinical experience 4 Sections: Description; Assessment; Outcome; References End Description section with a sentence that clearly states what you are reflecting upon Assessment should be evidence based and cite references Outcome should reflect forward and backward References should be highest level of evidence available

Orientation Class of 2020 Periodontal therapy provided in Groups 2B and 3B for second year students ODTP Groups 2A and 3A 2 periodontists assigned to each of Group 2B and Group 3B These periodontists will also cover periodontal consults for the 3rd year students on their floor. Periodontists will use sign up list on the wall adjacent to 2B and 3B Periodontists will try to take students in the order they sign up.

Orientation Class of 2020 Periodontal Billing Issues: Use appropriate procedure codes. Don’t change procedure codes to save patient money. SPT (D4910) requires prior SRP or osseous surgery to get reimbursed. Don’t alternate D1110 with D4910 or will require more SRP prior to D4910 in order to get reimbursed. D4910 will not be reimbursed if over 2 years since last maintenance visit. Treatment plan D1110 or SRP (D4341 or D4342). D4910 treatment note should include that scale and polish was completed. This will allow reimbursement for D1110 if D4910 is denied. Remember to identify which teeth receive SRP in note if limited SRP (D4342).

Orientation Class of 2020 CDT 2017 introduced a new code for treating patients with generalized moderate or severe gingival inflammation and no loss of attachment/no bone loss. D4346 is a full mouth procedure intended to be completed on a single date. D0180P is new code for Re-evaluation…do not use D0170
