Nov. 2013 Introduction During Sept. 2013 Interim meeting in Nanjing, China, IEEE 802.15 TG8 had an extensive discussion on the discovery types to be supported by PAC [1] TG8 reached a consensus that PAC shall support three discovery types This document provides text describing the three discovery types as a ‘text proposal’ to be included in PFD [2] [1] 15-13-0520-05-0008, “Summary of E-mail discussion on PAC technical issues, Sept. 2013. [2] 15-13-0328-00-0008, “TG8 PAC Framework Document (Draft). May 2013. Byung-Jae Kwak et al., ETRI

Text Proposal 5. MAC layer […] 5.4. Discovery Nov. 2013 Text Proposal 5. MAC layer […] 5.4. Discovery PAC shall support three discovery types of the following: Advertisement: In Advertise type discovery, a PD broadcasts its own identity and does not expect responses. Publish/Subscribe: In Publish/Subscribe type discovery, a PD broadcasts its own identity and expects responses from PDs that have discovered the broadcast message. Query/Reply: In Query/Reply type discovery, a PD broadcasts the identity of the PD being queried and expect a response from the PD. Byung-Jae Kwak et al., ETRI
