Mass and weight Per. 6

Mass The amount of matter in an object (example): Jupiter / (1.899 x 1027 kg) / 5th planet Saturn / (5.6846 x 1026 kg) / 6th planet Venus / (4.8685 x 1024 kg) / 2nd planet

Weight How heavy the object is (example): 2012 Honda Civic LX Coupe (2,617 pounds) 2013 Subaru Outback (3,495 pounds)

Mass and weight? Only the weight can change, mass is constant. Mass has to do with the amount of matter in an object. Matter never changes. Weight depends on the gravitational pull on Earth with you.

What is the difference? Mass is the amount of matter in an object which is something that occupies space and weight is the amount of gravity pulling the object to earth which is how heavy the object is.

Weight (calculations) Mass x Grams
