Transformed Mind Romans 12-13

The call to Transformed Living (Rom 12:1-2) Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. 1. Offer your bodies to God as a Living Sacrifice Bodies …enjoying God and resisting temptations Living …not a one-time effort, but ongoing sacrifice Holy …a life set apart, spent for God’s glory Pleasing …out of gratitude 2. True and Proper Worship With a sincere heart, to love and obey Him wholeheartedly. 3. Do not conform to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind Believers have a distinctly different worldview

Transformed Living : In a Church (Rom 12:3-8) 3 …. Do not think of yourself more highly than you ought, but rather think of yourself with sober judgment, … Right thinking about Yourself (Rom 12:3) Pride Vs Humility …Sober judgement For just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function, 5 so in Christ we, though many, form one body, and each member belongs to all the others. Right thinking about Unity (Rom 12:4-5) Our obligation in the body of Christ 6 We have different gifts, …..prophesying, … serving, …teaching, …. encouragement; …giving, … give generously; …..lead, do it diligently; ….show mercy, Right thinking about Diversity (Rom 12:6-8) Diverse Gifts in the body of Christ

The Law of Love (Rom 12:9-21) Love’s Actions (9-13) Love’s Objects (14-16) Sincere Blessing Enemies (14) Devoted Empathy (15-16) Honour one another Humility Never lacking in zeal Serving Love’s Results (17-21) Joyful Right Living (17) Patient Realism (18) Praying No Revenge (19) Sharing Active goodness (20) Generous The Triumph of Good (21)

Submission to Authority (Rom 13:1-7) The Sovereign Power of God (1) The Delegated Power of Governments Government’s responsibility (2-4) Government’s Limits Christian Submission (5-7)

Understanding the times (Rom 13:8-14) 8 Let no debt remain outstanding, except the continuing debt to love one another, for whoever loves others has fulfilled the law. Debt of Love (Rom 13: 8-10) 11 And do this, understanding the present time: The hour has already come for you to wake up from your slumber, because our salvation is nearer now than when we first believed. Understand the Times (Rom 13:11) 13 Let us behave decently, as in the daytime, not in carousing and drunkenness, not in sexual immorality and debauchery, not in dissension and jealousy. 14 Rather, clothe yourselves with the Lord Jesus Christ, and do not think about how to gratify the desires of the flesh Understand Your Identity (Rom 13:12-14)
