Patterns Challenge Examples

Number Pattern Reminders: 1. Determine if the pattern is increasing (getting larger/+) or decreasing (getting smaller/-). Check to make sure the pattern does not change. For example: +2, -4, +2, -4, etc. Write the pattern above the ones provided. Once you have determined the pattern, complete the pattern sequence.

1, 3, 9, 27, 81, __ What is the rule?

On a modern art painting, there are 15 green dots in the first row, 18 green dots in the second row, 16 green dots in the third row, 19 green dots in the fourth row and 17 green dots in the fifth row. If this pattern continues, how many green dots will there be in the seventh row? What is the rule?

Create your own pattern. Use your study guide and/or what you have learned about patterns to create your own. (I may just use it on a future assignment! )
