Chapter 7 Science Test Notes DNA, Genes, and Candy Canes

As DNA splits, complementary nucleotides are added to the bases on the original strands. Groups of three bases code for one amino acid. As messenger RNA is fed through the ribosome, it is matched with transfer DNA. (tDNA)

I Will Study for My Test! A string of nucleotides that has instructions for a certain trait is a gene. A molecule present in all living cells that plays a role in protein production is called RNA. To be copied, a DNA molecule splits down the middle.

I could get an “A” The rungs of the DNA ladder are a pair of bases. The sides of the DNA ladder are made of sugar and phosphate.

I will study during lunch! Watson and Crick built a DNA model like a long, twisted ladder. Using X-ray diffraction, Rosalind Franklin showed the shape of DNA to be a spiral.

I could skip lunch and study in the Library. The letters A, T, G, and C represent the four bases. A string of nucleotides that has information for making one trait is a gene.

Oh! Look I got an A+ Watson and Crick’s model of DNA look like a long, twisted ladder. Rosalind Franklin made images of DNA using X-ray diffraction. The amount of adenine in DNA is always equal to the amount of thymine.

Just a little studying of my notes and who knows? Nucleotides are made of a sugar, a phosphate, and a nitrogenous base. DNA is made of subunits called nucleotides.

A ribosome is the structure that reads the code on messenger DNA (mDNA). Each gene has instructions for making a protein. A string of nucleotides are called a gene. DNA look like a twisted ladder.

Take a Three Minute Break

Proteins do the job of unwinding, copying, and rewinding DNA inside a cell. Erwin Chargaff found out that adenine equals thymine in DNA.

I know! I could study tonight for my science test on Wednesday. Along with a sugar and a phosphate, the third part of a nucleotide is a base.

Have a Nice Day!
