Henry VIII and his six wives

Henry Tudor, son of Henry VII of England and Elizabeth York, was born at the royal residence, Greenwich Palace, on June 28, 1491. After the death of his father, he became Henry VIII, king of England. He married six times, beheaded two of his wives and was the main instigator of the English Reformation. His only surviving son, Edward VI, succeeded him after his death on January 28, 1547.

Catherine of Aragon was the daughter of Queen Isabella I of Castile and King Ferdinand II of Aragon. She was the Queen of England as the first wife of King Henry VIII; she was previously Princess of Wales as the wife of Prince Arthur. They married and Arthur died five months later. Catherine subsequently married Arthur's younger brother, Henry VIII. She couldn’t have a son, their only child was Mary I. Henry VIII was infatuated with Anne Boleyn and dissatisfied with his marriage to Catherine. Anne Boleyn was Queen of England  as the second wife of King Henry VIII. Henry and Anne married after a secret marriage in November . She was the mother of Elizabeth I. She was beheaded.

Jane Seymour was Queen of England as the third wife of King Henry VIII Jane Seymour was Queen of England as the third wife of King Henry VIII. She succeeded Anne Boleyn . She died of postnatal complications less than two weeks after the birth of her only child, a son who reigned as King Edward VI. She was the only one of Henry's wives to receive a queen's funeral, and his only consort to be buried beside him in St. George's Chapel ,Windsor Castle. She was the only wife of Henry VIII whose son survived infancy. Anne of Cleves was Queen of England as the fourth wife of King Henry VIII The marriage was declared never consummated and, as a result, she was not crowned queen consort. Following was the annulment of their marriage

Catherine Howard was Queen of England as the fifth wife of Henry VIII Catherine Howard was Queen of England  as the fifth wife of Henry VIII. Catherine married Henry VIII almost immediately after the annulment of his marriage to Anne of Cleves was arranged. Catherine was beheaded after less than two years of marriage to Henry on the grounds of treason for committing adultery while married to the King. Catherine Parr  was Queen of England and of Ireland as the last of the six wives of King Henry VIII, and the final queen consort of the House of Tudor. She married him She was also the most-married English queen, with four husbands.
