ORAL TRADITIONS. Learning objective/ Kaupapa for all lessons this week: To deliberately choose language, content and structure to suit audience and purpose in an oral text. AND To use specific dramatic approaches and conventions in structured ways for effective exploration of ideas, texts, issues and themes. VALUES… COMPETENCIES… Do Now/ Nā Mahi: Look at the cards with different traditional oral texts on them. Put them into groups.

To deliberately choose language, content and structure to suit audience and purpose in an oral text. AND To use specific dramatic approaches and conventions in structured ways for effective exploration of ideas, texts, issues and themes. Which groupings are most relevant to the Kaupapa today? Have we identified any groupings that are relevant to the relevant groupings

In groups, identify all the stuff we need to learn about to achieve these Learning Objectives/Kaupapa by looking at each element of them To deliberately choose language, content and structure to suit audience and purpose in an oral text. To build our confidence, we are going to work on Storytelling/ Pūrākau. This is what I think I know about Pūrākau… Traditional storytelling Word comes from Pū (roots) and rākau (tree). Relates to inter-connectedness that they bring. Highly prized, carefully constructed and skilfully delivered. What do you know?
