Section Objective Write: a check

Key Words to Know checking account (p. 169) A monetary account that allows the holder to write checks against money that has been deposited into it.

Key Words to Know check (p. 169) A written order that directs a bank to deduct money from your checking account to make a payment.

Example 1 Write the following in word form. $65.29 $235.58

Example 1 Answer Step: Write the amounts in word form. $65.29 in word form is sixty-five and 29/100 dollars $235.58 in word form is two hundred thirty-five and 58/100 dollars

Example 2 Margaret Miller is buying a gift at the Department Store on March 23. The cost of the gift is $45.78. Miller is paying by check. How should she write the check?
