Clip Test Practice Writing Prepping for the Final Exam

Our Schedule Leading Up to Finals Today and tomorrow we’ll be doing a clip test practice writing activity On Thursday and next Monday we’ll be doing a practice final exam essay activity This Wednesday we have our suspense and musical test This Friday we have our final exam Socratic Seminar Next Tuesday we have our final exam essay Next Thursday (6th period) or Friday (4th period) is your final exam clip tests

So…Why Are We Doing This? We’ve done a number of clip tests throughout the semester so you should be used to them by this point. But…they are still difficult. Rather than doing another clip test or two to practice the process further, we’re going to try to write questions for a clip from Casino Royale. This is difficult – it takes a LONG time to do this well. But it also REALLY helps you to know what to look for and realize what the test makers are going to quiz you on.

The Process You’ll work with a partner. We’ll watch the clip several times and then for the last half of Tuesday’s class we’ll talk as a class to see what type of questions you and your partner came up with. Work on writing the questions (and knowing the answer), don’t worry about writing all the possible answer choices. For help with this process, think back to the type of questions you’ve seen on previous clip test (as they’ll be those same types of questions on the final exam) as well as the pages in your film packet that break down each question into certain types (on pages )

Step-by-Step You’ll watch the clip the first time and take notes via a three column system (see next slide). Then you’ll get with your partner, compare notes, and watch the clip a second time (adding to the notes, seeing new things, etc..). Then you and your partner should write some sample questions (try to come up with several). Don’t worry about possible answer choices, just write the question (and know your answer) Then tomorrow during the second half of the period we’ll talk as a class and see what you came up with.
