Lessons learned 1. Building a national database (early 2017; based on schema’s) helps learning-by doing and easy communication with thematic experts + XML-test 2. Semantic EU Standardisation is needed: NL uses a national standard (AQUO) which is optimized for WFD. => Urgent need for 1 EU semantic standard. Now WISE semantics in REPORT/EIO-NET refers to ICES/OSPAR/BODC semantics in the data. 3. Technical Standardisation: Inspire WFS&WMS service => Works great! 4. Data Model: We use a simple flat data model, Readable by QGIS,ARCGIS,openlayers, excel) 10
