12.4 Box-and-Whisker Plots
Definitions: Minimum: Smallest number in the set of data (ordered least to greatest) Maximum: Largest number in the set of data (ordered least to greatest) Median: Middle number in the set of data (ordered least to greatest) 1st Quartile: The middle number of the lower half of the data (ordered least to greatest) 3rd Quartile: The middle number of the upper half of the data (ordered least to greatest)
When making a Box-and-Whisker Plot: Put numbers in order from least to greatest Find the minimum, maximum, and median Find the 1st quartile and the 3rd quartile Represent the data in box-and- whisker format
