What’s in your tin? Our Values Our Principles Our Philosophy Our Behaviours Our Behaviours www.awpsychotherapy.co.uk

Transactional Analysis Philosophy Everyone “belongs” and has intrinsic value We are born and have the capacity to be OK Everyone can think. Everyone can change We all have the right to change our minds. www.awpsychotherapy.co.uk

Philosophy informing Practice Therefore…… We believe in a process of open communication. We believe in a contractual methodology. www.awpsychotherapy.co.uk

So what is a contract? Eric Berne defined a contract as: An explicit, bilateral commitment towards a well-defined course of action. www.awpsychotherapy.co.uk

This definition has some implications… That there is a process of clarity; ie clear communication. That all parties are involved in its negotiation The process has clarity The outcome has clarity. Non-negotiable terms-and-conditions therefore are not “a contract” according to this definition. www.awpsychotherapy.co.uk

Claude Steiner’s Four Requirements Valid Consideration There’s enough in it for me…and for you. www.awpsychotherapy.co.uk

What are you willing to do in order to make this change? How might you sabotage yourself? How will you and I know when you have made the change? How will you reward yourself for making the change? What will you do in your life after you have made the changes? www.awpsychotherapy.co.uk
