Chapter 10 – “I Ruin a Perfectly Good Bus” Chapter 11 – “We Visit the Garden Gnome Emporium” Entrance Ticket Quiz: Name the three magic items that Percy and his friends are bringing on the quest. What creature do the kids meet, and how do they destroy it? Why does Annabeth say they have to kill Medusa, not just run away? I think Percy is ________ (character trait-brave, kind, thoughtful, adventurous, etc.). I think this because __________(two details that support your answer). Many of the campers have their own magic item – Clarisse has an electric spear, Annabeth has a baseball cap. What magic item would you want?

Chapter 12 – “We Get Advice from a Poodle” As you read, on the back of your half sheet, answer the following questions: 1. Why does Grover want a searcher’s license? 2. What new information do you learn about Grover’s past and how it relates to Annabeth? 3. Describe the place Percy sees in his dream. 4. Who do think is talking to Percy in the dream? Chapter 15 – “A God Buys Us Cheeseburgers” Activity: The Modernized Gods In this chapter, you met Ares, who in modern times wears biker clothes and rides a Harley Davison with a shotgun holster. How might other gods or goddesses look in modern times? Pick one god or goddess you know about. Write a description of what they might look like today. What clothes would they wear? What would their hair look like? What activities would they do? What would their car look like? What might their job be?

Chapter 16 – “We Take a Zebra to Vegas” Listen as the chapter is read aloud. Purpose for reading: Listen for allusions (references) to myths, stories, or characters . Also record any new or challenging vocabulary on your annotation page. Complete three annotations.
