Internet Technology Internet technology and its increasing popularity has an enormous impact on education. Contributed new tools across the range of science and engineering disciplines. Facilitated the development of additional teaching strategies: Simulation Demonstration Experimentation Communication, and so on

Two approaches to conduct online labs Virtual labs Remote labs Virtual labs are based on software to simulate the lab environment . That means they are dealing with real physical equipment. Remote lab is an experiment which is conducted and controlled remotely through the Internet.

The common technologies used for lab server software development are: LabVIEW MatLab High level programming languages e.g. c#, Java, C++, etc.

Common Remote Laboratory Architecture Source: Google search

Advantages Increases accessibility to labs. Improves learning objectives and outcomes to support better learning. Enhances sharing of knowledge, expertise and experience. Reduces start-up costs of labs.

Disadvantages Lack of hands on trouble shooting and debugging experience. Lack of equipment setup experience.

Conclusions The student can book the remote lab, run an experiment and display their results from home. This technique allows to perform the practice as many times as needed without temporal restrictions and without having to travel to the actual lab centre. 8
