What the Lord Expects From Us “For if there is first a willing mind…” 2 Corinthians 8:12

1. Willing To Change For The Better Alien sinners must repent (Acts 2:38). Erring Christians must repent (Acts 8:22; 2 Cor. 7:8-10). We must “deny self” (Matt. 16:24). We must be willing to become clay in the Potter’s hand (Rom. 9:20-21).

2. Willing To Grow Christians are “born again” (John 3:3; 1 Pet. 1:23). Babes must grow (1 Pet. 2:2; 2 Pet. 3:18). We grow through God’s word (Heb. 5:12-14). We grow by enduring trials (James 1:2-4). We grow into the image of Christ (Gal. 4:19).

3. Willing To Serve God We are called to serve (Matt. 11:28-30). Some are not willing to take the Lord’s yoke upon themselves (Acts 7:51; Ex. 32:9). We must obey the Lord (Luke 6:46). We must abide in Jesus and bear fruit (John 15:1-6).

4. Willing To Learn How To Love We are commanded to love (Matt. 22:37-40). We are commanded to love like God loves (Matt. 5:43-48). We love God because He first loved us (1 John 4:19; 10-11). We are to learn from God how to love one another (1 Thess. 4:9-10).

What the Lord Expects From Us The Lord has the right to expect us to be willing to… Change for the better. Grow and mature spiritually. Serve Him faithfully and fruitfully. Learn to love as He loves.
