Accounting and Reporting of ITMOs under the Paris Agreement Accounting under Article 4.13 Guidance on accounting of Parties A and B’s NDCs consistent with Paragraph 13 of Article 4, and Paragraphs 31-32 of Decision 1/CP.21 Additional guidance when Parties A and B engage in cooperative approaches which involve the use of ITMOs towards NDCs Reporting under Article 13 Accounting of ITMOs under Article 6 Tracking of Party A’s NDC 1. Issuance of 100 ITMOs (1 ITMO = 1 tCO2eq) 2. Transfer of ITMOs 3. Surrender of ITMOs 4. Retirement of ITMOs Party A ITMOs are real, verified, permanent, additional, promote SD Addition of 100 tCO2eq to headline emissions Acquire 100 ITMOs Reduction of 100 tCO2 from headline emissions ITMOs are removed from circulation Headline emissions that serve as input to Party A’s reporting of information necessary to track progress made in implementing and achieving NDCs (Art 13.7b) Technical Expert Review (Art 13.11) Review information submitted by each Party under Art 13.7 GHG emissions based on inventory (Art 13.7a) + 100 tCO2 = Party A At the point of transfer Party B Accounting of Party B’s NDC Headline emissions that serve as input to Party B’s reporting of information necessary to track progress made in implementing and achieving NDCs (Art 13.7b) Technical Expert Review (Art 13.11) Review information submitted by each Party under Art 13.7 GHG emissions based on inventory (Art 13.7a) - 100 tCO2 Party B = At the point of surrender Party B
