Group Project 2018 Model of the Hearst Building from Gherking to Hearst! New York Scale 1:60

600 ft high ! ‘Old’ Base 200ft by 200ft; tower 120 ft by 160 ft Floor to floor height 13.2 ft A good source of basic data: http://faculty.arch.tamu.edu/media/cms_page_media/4433/Hearst%20Tower%20Presentation_ LiuLiuSybicoTuYe.pdf

tasks: (Put up a sign-up sheet!) Group 1: get the reeds (as soon as possible; calculate how many you need, and bring more, and cut them as long as possible!) Group 2: adapt the floor plates from the round Gherkin plates Group 3: build the 10 story high column/beam structure supporting the tower Group 4: build the façade of the ‘old building’ using foam core, wood(?) Group 5 : Modify the foam floor spacers to the right floor height (13.2 ft) Group ‘all’: construct the building using elastic bands, paper clips and the floor plates and reeds; erect the old façade around the tower at ground level. When done: party!
