6.27 Children in Homes with No Parent Present Risk Factors: Family Risk Factors – Family Management Problems 6.27 Children in Homes with No Parent Present CSAP defines this risk indicator as the children living in homes with neither parent. It calculates this indicator as a rate (the sum of children living in a household headed by a male or female not the parent plus children living in group quarters divided by the sum of all the types of home circumstances in which children might live, times 100). The following table shows only the percent of all households with children that are headed by a non-family member. The figure for this county is compared to the state and the nation. Types of Households w/ Children and Median Family Income, 2004 est. (AGS, 2005) County Grant Co. 6.28 Divorce Rate Table 6.28: Divorce Rates (AGS, 2004 est., 2005) Risk Factors: Family Risk Factors – Family Conflict 6.28 Divorce Rate CSAP defines family conflict in terms of the divorce rate. Another statistic which CSAP does not mention, but which would be relevant to this risk factor, would be rates of domestic violence in households with children. Table 6.28: Divorce Rates (AGS, 2004 est., 2005) Divorce Rate, 2004 est.(2005) County Grant Co. Indiana U.S. Divorced (Percent) 7.7 6.4

6.29 Households Where All Parents Work Risk Factors: Family Risk Factors – Parental Attitudes & Involvement 6.29 Households Where All Parents Work One way to measure involvement is to look at households where every available parent is working. In # County, according to the 2000 Census SF3, the following percents of children were living in households where both parents work. For comparison, all families with children are included in the table. Parents in the Labor Force (Children under 18), 2000   Grant Co.
