Overview of Session Purpose: Discuss how Electricity Networks can be created at lower cost, with sustainable cash flow in low-income areas Ideas are applicable to any electrification programme in any developing country

Overview of Session (2) Objectives Share methods to reduce costs in construction of Electricity networks (Ghana, Tunisia, Southern Africa, New Zealand and Australia) Identify issues to be addressed to build viable networks

Session Outline 1. Technical Systems (50 min) SWS and the Ghana experience Single phase and the Tunisia experience SWER and appropriate engineering 2. Utility "discovers" Low Cost and wants to "do it" (10 min) 3. Economic justification (20 min) Building Viable African Electricity Networks
