2 Dimensional Motion Or Projectile Motion

Projectile Motion Essential Questions: What impacts have analyzing projectiles had on society? What affects the path of a projectile?

Projectile Motion A projectile is an object with horizontal motion upon which the only force acting is gravity. The horizontal speed is a constant. The vertical motion follows the rules of free-fall.

Projectile motion is made up of two parts (or components): A horizontal (x) component and a vertical (y) component.

All projectiles take a parabolic path. The path taken by a projectile is called its trajectory.

The horizontal distance a projectile travels is called its range.

Solving a Projectile Problem Givens will be arranged in an x-y chart.
