TURKISH WEDDING TRADITIONS
Turkish people have a lot of traditions… Most of these traditions have been neglected for a long time … But some of them are still going on in some parts of the country,especially in the eastern regions …
Here are some examples from these traditions …
The bridegroom throws wheat grain and sweets at bride s head so that the bride can bring good luck, be softspoken and gentle
The bride drives in nails into the door, in this way,she will be faithful to her house and won t leave there …
The bride rides a camel or a horse and goes to the wedding place…
The bridegroom has a special shave on the wedding day
The family of the bridegroom prepares a special chest for the bride which includes presents for her (lace,make up,nightgown,etc)
Another present is a kind of wrapped cloth which also includes same things
The most important and well-known wedding tradition is henna.The night before the wedding day, friends and neighbours of the bride apply henna in their palm.A special red cloth is covered on the bridess head,and they dance all night long…Its an alive tradition in Turkey
A red ribbon is tied up around brides waist.
