The Shoe Lace By Grace Kelly and Makayla Thoune<3

What Major Materials do they use to make up the shoe lace? What Major Materials do they use to make up the shoe lace? Most shoe laces nowadays are made of spun polyester. Some others are made of nylon, nomex, Kevlar, cotton, elastic and leather. Cotton Cow hide is used to make Leather material!! Kevlar Vest Nomex Elastic

Why were these materials were chosen? Spun Polyester is chosen because it is the best-all around material for shoelaces. It is relatively cheap, long lasting, holds a knot well, and can be easily colored.

Nomex Nomex is chosen because of its fire resistance. It is used one firefighters boots.

Kevlar Kevlar is chosen because of its strength. It is used where maximum strength is needed.

Cotton Cotton is chosen because of its feel and appearance. It is used on classy shoes.

Elastic Elastic is chosen because the laces dont have to be tied and untied. It is used by sportspeople (for speed) as well as by people who have difficulty tying laces (elderly of incapacitated).

Leather Leather is chosen because of its capabilities under wet conditions. It is used on boots and boat shoes.

~The origin of one of these materials~ Spun polyester, nylon, nomex and Kevlar are all man-made fibers. Cotton and elastic are natural materials. Leather is from cow hide.

~History of the shoe lace~ ~History of the shoe lace~ The exact history is unknown. Prehistoric humans (cavemen) wore simple leather coverings bound to their feet with twine or string. Over the years, these strings developed into the more sophisticated shoe laces that we know today.

~How the shoe lace is made~ Most shoe laces are made on a complicated shoe lace weaving machine. Usually, a dozen or more separate threads are woven together into a continuous lace. This is cut into individual lengths of shoe laces, with hard sections formed onto the ends.
