MY SPACE PRESENTATION By Ethan Lawrence

BLACK HOLES

Black Holes Black holes are anything but empty space. Black holes are the strangest things in the universe. A black hole does not have a surface, like a planet or a star. Instead, it’s a region of space where matter has collapsed in on itself. This collapse results in a huge amount of mass being concentrated in an incredibly huge area. The gravitational pull of this region is so great that nothing can escape not even light. Although, we can’t see these monstrous black holes, we know they exist by the way they effect nearby dust.

THE SUN

THE SUN Then Sun is huge compared to even the biggest of planets, Jupiter and the Sun contains 99.8 percent of the solar systems entire mass. Trapped by the Sun’s gravity, the eight planets of the solar system travel around the central star on nearly circular paths, spinning like tops as they go. Giant jets of gasses shoot up from the surface of the sun. They are called solar flares. The surface of the sun bubbles like a bowl of boiling water. The sun is in the solar system. It reaches an incredible 15 million ‘c in the centre. A pin head as hot as this can kill someone 150km (90 miles) away. The surface of the sun is much cooler than the centre. It reaches about 6’000 ‘c which is 600 X hotter than boiling water. The sun has been shining for about 5 billion years and will probably be shining for another 5 billion years. The sun is a million times larger than the earth.
