Controlling Distractions The reason why someone doesn’t perform well when they get distracted is NOT because they lost their skill, but rather they lost their focus. Something only becomes a distraction if YOU let it distract you. You cant control what happens around you, but YOU can control how you react to it.

Controlling Distractions Controlling distractions helps you Maintain your focus Quickly regain your focus in the case that you become distracted Perform consistently at your desired level Stick to your game plan Adequate Rest

Internal Distractions Internal distractions are things that you think about which disrupts your focus. School Family Relationships Winning or losing What you think others think of you Possible Mistakes Jobs You can’t change someone’s thoughts about you, but you can change your thoughts about yourself. Life 100% It is impossible to give 100% of one aspect of your life if you are only giving 75% in another. Stay in the HERE and NOW!

External Distractions External Distractions are things that happen to you. The actions and words of your teammates Your coach Your opponents Officials Fatigue Parents / Friends Injuries Remember these are things you cannot control, so don’t let them affect you.
