Radiation Detection via Transition Edge Sensor (TES) Matthew Yankowitz April 26, 2013
Overview Goal: measure incident photon energy and time of arrival with high accuracy. Method: Bias superconductor to transition temperature and measure change in resistance due to Joule heating of incident radiation.

Conclusions Benefits: High efficiency photon detection. Virtually no “false positive” counts. Good energy resolution (order 0.1eV). Accurate time-of-arrival. Drawbacks: Need to cool cryogenically below LHe. Long dead time.
