What is MOOD Mood is the feeling or impression you get from a novel or film It is created by imagery, events, colors, music, voices, time of day, etc. It creates a feeling of expectation about what is to follow.

Evaluation Study the picture on page 202 of “The Tell-Tale Heart”. What kind of MOOD does it inspire? Listen to the first few paragraphs of the audio. Is the TONE positive, negative or neurtal? What words give it that tone?

Processing Write a summary. Make sure to include the following: 1. The definition of tone and mood 2. Example of words that set a tone and what kind of mood these words set. 3. Give an example of a book or movie and describe the tone (words they use) and mood (environment) of this book
