Creating Change by Changing Habits By Julie Conn & Lena Harbour

Did you know….. On average people spend 135,200 hours of their life at work. Why feel like this?!

Begin with your Work Environment….. What is your current work environment? Do you Consider it Good or Bad? Why? How Would you like to improve your current work environment? *Interaction-Turn to your neighbor and discuss the questions above* Lets Start By writing down one thing you wish you could change at work & how that specific thing makes you feel.

Things that make a bad work environment that you can change? How you react to other people & their personalities. Actions towards diversity within the team/group. Work Drama Work Load/Stress Your daily attitude towards work in general *Do you walk into work with a bad attitude? If so that is the attitude you will have ALL day*

How can a negative environment effect Your Work & Home Life? Work not being completed in a timely manner. Absenteeism Work Errors Demotions/Wage Changes HOME Personal relationships being torn apart due to taking work problems home. Loss of time with children & family due to no productivity on job site. Loss of sleep. Health problems.

Beginning steps to….. Creating Change By Changing your Habits within the workplace First we must define what a habit is. Second identify what habits you currently have? Third be ready to put your all into the change you plan to create. *Audience Question- What is a habit to you? & What habits do you currently have? (Can be work related or not)* *How Have You Broke Habits In The Past?* Audience Question

What will your New Habit be?

Now create your plan to pursue your habit by Using the 3 R’s! Remind Yourself by utilizing electronics to create reminders and prepare yourself when you know something negative is coming your way Create a routine of how you respond to the negative, and also utilize daily routines. Always remember the reward you are benefiting from by creating the habit.

How do you know when a habit is formed? You do it automatically without thinking. No longer feels like an accomplishment (It Is Expected) It requires little to no effort Potentially enjoyable

Now that you have a plan of action How will your Work & Home Life Be Positive? Task completed on time. Teamwork being utilized for production. Enjoy going to work HOME Family Time Growth within your personal relationships Home life separated from work life
