Presentation transcript:

Family Life Cycle Foldable Follow the PowerPoint to create your own foldable about the family life cycle. You will need: 1 sheet of copy paper, 1 pair of scissors, the document “What if the Family Life Cycle” (on website) and colored pencils

Envelope Fold Fold a sheet of paper into a taco forming a triangle. Cut off the leftover piece. 2. Open the folded taco and refold it the opposite way forming another taco and an X-fold pattern. 3. Open the taco fold and fold the corners toward the center point of the X forming a small square. 4. Trace this square onto another sheet of paper. Cut and glue it to the inside of the envelope. Pictures can be placed under or on top of the tabs.

Let’s Begin On the back of the folded side write the title: “Family Life Cycle” and below the title your name “By: …” Describe the family life cycle and the importance of knowing this cycle. You do not need to provide details of the stages at this point. On the folded side label the flaps with the main life cycle stages: Coupling, Parenting, Launching, and Empty Nest. Draw arrows to show the progression.

Let’s Begin (con.) Under each flap define the stage. What happens in this stage? What are some challenges and accomplishments of this stage? During your folding you created 4 boxes under the flaps. Label each square with the one of the four cycle stages. Keep the labels for the stages close to the definition for the stage. Draw a picture that represents each stage. Color the pictures.

How will I be graded? Here is the rubric Poor (1 pt.) Fair (2 pt.) Good (3 pt.) Completeness Less that ½ of the foldable is complete. Few visual representations on the envelope. At least ½ of the foldable is completed. Some pictures complete. Student has completed every side and the inside of the foldable. Pictures are shown on all required sections. Requirements Less than ½ of the requirements are completed and work is sloppy. At least ½ of the requirements are competed. Student may have improvised on other aspects of the foldable. Student completed work as required. The foldable is appealing and informative. Legibility Writing is sloppy to the point of not being able to read the writing Writing is sloppy, but can make out what it says All writing and pictures are neat. Appearance Overall the appearance of the foldable is sloppy and does not draw the audience in. More that ½ of the foldable is neat and draws attention in. Some areas are messy. Appearance is neat and draws the audience in. It is colorful and represents the stages well.
