Narmada Valley Project India’s Environment Narmada Valley Project

India’s Environment Others feel that the dams will flood fertile lands and flood many sacred shrines and will displace approximately 1.5 million people from their land in three states (Gujarat, Maharashtra, and Madhya Pradesh). The government has also attempted to preserves the environment by limiting limestone quarrying because it destroys forests and damages farmland.
