Alternate Equation Independent of whether the source in the circuit turns on or off at t = to.

Example

Because a capacitor acts like an open circuit under steady state conditions t ≤ to t >> to vc initial = vin = 3 V vc final = vin = 2 V The current flowing through the resistor in both cases is zero. Therefore, the voltage across the capacitor, vc = vin , from KVL (sum of voltages around a loop is equal to zero)
