Cooperating to Meet the Challenge of Credit Transfer: U.S. and International Perspectives ISEP Biennial conference 2008 Washington DC, November 2008

Introduction: Credit Transfer European perspectives Monica Nylund 22 November 2008 ISEP Biennial conference 2008

Credit transfer Learning agreement (study plan/course request list) Contract between the student, the home university and the host university Credits will count towards the students degree at the home university

Learning agreement In Europe introduced by the Erasmus- programme Europe before the Bologna process: wide differences, but the aim was to exchange students despite the differences in the systems The Bologna process is about dialogue, wiping out confusions (Guy Haug)

ECTS European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System a tool for facilitating the recognition of the courses for exchange students when returning to their home institution not based on contact hours, but efforts. The number of hours a student would need to reach the set objectives of a course

the aim within ISEP is also to exchange students despite the differences in academic systems to have an open dialogue, and to try to understand each others systems

Thank you for your attention!
