Relations and Functions Two-Variable Inequalities -- Chapter 2-8

Linear Inequalities Like y ≤ 3x +1 Graph as if it was y = 3x + 1 But… line is only solid if it is part of solution (meaning ≤ or ≥) otherwise DOTTED line (> or <) AND… must SHADE IN solution region (shading follows Y)

But if it isn’t in slope-intercept form Be careful of shading! Convert to slope-intercept to be sure! “half-plane” means the whole infinite field is divided by the line

Absolute Value Works the same – dotted or solid line, shade above the lines for y> or y≥ Shade below for y< or y≤ remember to get y alone first!
